Spring 2026 Leave/Disability Updates
Leave/Accomodation Updates - Spring 2026
Paid Maternity and Parental Leave Benefits for WFSE, PSE, UFWW members…and now PSO members!
In July 2025, WFSE and PSE members became eligible for paid maternity/parental leave and as of April 1, 2026, PSO members are also eligible for this generous paid leave benefit. While we can’t help with lack of sleep or the stress of having a new child added to your routine, providing new parents with some financial relief definitely allows for a more enjoyable bonding period.
- Eligible WFSE, PSE and PSO members are provided 12 weeks/480 hours of paid maternity/parental leave.
Eligible UFWW members are provided 12 weeks or 1 full quarter of paid maternity/parental leave.
- Full regular salary and deductions are paid during the approved period of maternity/parental leave.
- Timesheets can be suspended during this period so you don’t have to worry about overpayments or missed timesheet submissions.
- Health insurance premiums continue to be collected, so no back premiums due when you return from leave.
To learn more about eligibility requirements and how to create a maternity/parental leave plan that best fits your family’s needs, reach out to Lisa Hill (360) 650-3751 or lisa.hill@wwu.edu to schedule a consultation.
