Employment/Hiring
Supervisors! If you are hiring new students for Fall quarter, please encourage them to visit HR to complete their New Hire Paperwork prior to leaving for the summer! This way they are all set to go when they return in September and can avoid the busiest time of year in our HR reception office. If they have worked as a student employee previously, they can check in with HR as they may already have an I-9 on file. If you have a larger group of students to hire it may be best to setup an I-9 “clinic” day with HR, please reach out to us at HR@wwu.edu for more info. and with any questions.

Onboarding
The next New Hire Onboarding Overview Training will be held via Teams on Thursday, August 27th from 10AM – 11AM. This is an optional training and a great opportunity to prep for fall and for anyone involved in the hiring process for faculty, staff and student employees. Immigration and Visa Sponsorship
HR is dedicated to supporting the university by streamlining immigration and visa processes for faculty and staff. With the help of expert advice from our attorneys, we provide guidance, efficient handling of applications, and ensure a smooth transition for international members of WWU's community. Peak Processing Season Reminder
Our second busiest season of the year is approaching as fiscal year-end activities and summer session startup begin. The period between 6/16/26 and 7/15/26 is especially busy for the HRIS Data Team as these activities overlap. During this time, response times may be slightly slower than usual; however, we remain committed to providing the same high level of customer service and support. We appreciate your patience and encourage departments to submit requests as early as possible to help ensure smooth processing.
